- Born February 10, 1947 in Cincinnati where I
have always lived.
- I have three beautiful daughters, Robyn, Heather &
Julie
- Robyn has a son, Dylan
and Heather has a son, Jadin
.
- Former equestrian. For 18 years I had at least one
horse, including an old bay gelding named Whisky
. I still love horses.
- I had a general class ham radio license, N8BQX, that
has expired.
- From the University of Cincinnati I have B.A.
in English that was not nearly as much fun as my one credit of "women's
phys-ed".
- As a leader in the Cincinnati Cycle [bicycle] Club
for five years, I led rides, organized events and introduced novices
the techniques of road riding and made them feel welcome in the cycling
community.
- As a caller at contra dance, I share with the beginning
dancers my enthusiasm for contra, and I program dance evenings that
balance more forgiving dances with some of the more challenging ones.
- March 26, 2003 I was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia.
Since then, I have spent most of my time in the hospital. I hope to find
a donor for a bone marrow transplant.

Tap dance or clog by yourself. Waltz or tango with a partner.
Square dance with three other couples. Line dance in your own space.
Lots of others will be doing the same thing in their own spaces. Contra
dance together with everyone else.
In contra dance, we come together by exchanging warm smiles and eye
contact with everybody else within sight. Moving together with gentle touch,
we help each other flow smoothly and quickly from one figure to another.
Thru the phrasing of the music, the caller, dancers and musicians connect
with each other. Contra dance is the most social of all dances.

I have been bicycling since 1984. I spent five years as a "cluster
leader" in the Cincinnati Cycle Club. For several years, I was member
#1010 in the Ultra Marathon Cycling Association. In 2002 I made a New
Year's resolution to do another double century (200 mile in one day).
Although I have done many long rides in the past, I was not ready for
a double in 2002. 2003 has turned out to be even a worse year for riding.
In March I was diagnosed with leukemia. Chemo therapy and an upcoming
bone marrow transplant have postponed my “ultra” rides. I am eager to
get back into shape for a long ride.
One of my favorite rides is from Cincinnati to the contra dance
in Lexington, Kentucky on the first Saturday of the month. After dancing,
I spend the night and ride back home the next day. If you would like
to come with me, send me an email. I have also been riding tandem since
1989, so you would not even have to own a bicycle. I ride unsagged and
unsupported, so if you could not make it the whole way I would have to
leave you for buzzard bait. Fortunately, that has never happened to anyone.
I would not go with anyone who could not make it; and I would never leave
anyone behind.
